More than five years of clinical experience. Rigorous training. Genuine warmth.
I'm Bella Ozdemir, MSEd, LMHC — a licensed psychotherapist and mental health counselor with a Master of Science in Education in Counseling Psychology. With more than five years of clinical experience, I bring both deep training and genuine warmth to every therapeutic relationship I form.
My work is grounded in psychodynamic theory, which means I believe that understanding the deeper layers of your inner world — your patterns, your history, your unconscious motivations — is central to lasting change. Therapy is not just about managing symptoms; it is about transforming your relationship with yourself.
"The goal of therapy is not to feel better for a moment — it is to understand yourself more fully, so you can live more freely."
I hold a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Counseling Psychology, and am a fully licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. Over more than five years of clinical practice, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of individuals navigating anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, identity questions, and the intricate challenges of relationships.
I have received training in psychodynamic and relational approaches, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care. I work from a frame that honors the whole person — your history, your body, your relationships, and your inner life — rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
Psychodynamic therapy has over a century of evidence behind it. Research consistently shows that this deeper, exploratory approach produces not only symptom relief but lasting change that endures long after therapy ends. By exploring the roots of your current struggles, we build genuine insight — the kind that changes how you see yourself and how you move through the world.
I offer virtual therapy via telehealth throughout New York State, ensuring that compassionate, high-quality care is accessible wherever you are.
Credentials & Approach
Advanced graduate training in counseling theory, human development, and clinical practice — the foundation of a rigorous, evidence-based approach.
Fully licensed as a mental health counselor in New York — meeting the highest standards of professional competence.
Extensive hands-on experience working with diverse individuals across a range of presenting concerns, life stages, and backgrounds.
Trained in depth-oriented, attachment-informed, and trauma-sensitive approaches — connecting past experience to present-day patterns.
Virtual sessions via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform — bringing quality care to you wherever you are in New York State.
Therapy that goes beneath the surface — to the roots of lasting change.
If you have tried therapy before and found it surface-level or short-lived, psychodynamic therapy may feel like a different kind of experience entirely. Rather than focusing only on the "here and now" or teaching coping skills, we explore the deeper story beneath your current struggles — the patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped who you are today.
This is talk therapy in its richest sense: a space where nothing is off-limits, where your thoughts, feelings, memories, and dreams are all welcome. Slowly, a clearer picture of your inner life emerges — and with it, greater freedom.
"We explore not just what is happening, but why — and how the past quietly lives in the present."
Psychodynamic therapy is based on the idea that much of what drives our behavior, emotions, and relationships happens outside of our conscious awareness. Old wounds, unspoken needs, and learned ways of relating can quietly shape our lives in ways we do not fully understand — until we look more carefully.
In our sessions, you are invited to talk freely — about what is on your mind, what you notice, what feels confusing or painful. I listen closely, not just to what you say but to what lies beneath. Together, we identify themes, make connections, and bring understanding to experiences that may have felt chaotic or stuck.
You do not need to come with a clear agenda. Therapy is not a performance — it is a relationship, one of the most honest you can have. Over time, the insights we develop together change how you relate to yourself and others, how you handle conflict, how you understand your feelings, and how you meet challenges in daily life.
Sessions are held via secure, confidential telehealth video throughout New York State — virtual care that meets you wherever you are.
Core Elements of Treatment
You are encouraged to speak openly — to follow your thoughts wherever they lead. This creates a unique space for discovery that directed conversation cannot.
Together we notice recurring themes in your relationships and experiences — patterns that may have formed long ago but continue to shape your present.
The relationship between us is itself a healing space. How you engage with me often reflects how you engage with others — and that insight is transformative.
Early experiences live on in our present-day reactions, fears, and ways of relating. Making these connections conscious allows you to meet life with more choice.
Research shows psychodynamic therapy produces change that continues to deepen even after treatment ends — a true investment in your long-term wellbeing.
Whatever brings you to therapy, you deserve support that goes beneath the surface. Here are some of the areas I specialize in.
Chronic anxiety, panic, social anxiety, and persistent worry can feel all-consuming. We explore the deeper fears and beliefs driving your anxiety so you can meet uncertainty with more ease and confidence.
Depression often signals something important — a conflict, a loss, a need that has gone unmet. Psychodynamic therapy helps uncover what lies beneath persistent sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness.
Struggles with intimacy, communication, attachment, or recurring conflict. We explore the relational patterns rooted in your early history that may be shaping your connections today.
Childhood trauma, complex relational trauma, or overwhelming past experiences. Working at your pace, in a safe and attuned relationship, we move gently toward integration and healing.
Persistent self-criticism, feelings of unworthiness, difficulty knowing who you are or what you want. We work toward understanding how these patterns formed and relating to yourself with more compassion.
Career shifts, relationship changes, loss, parenthood, moves — major transitions can unearth old wounds and raise new questions about identity and purpose.
Losing someone or something significant can shake the foundations of your world. We create space to grieve fully, to honor what was lost, and to find your way forward in your own time.
Feeling stuck in the same situations, relationships, or responses? Psychodynamic therapy is uniquely suited to understanding and shifting these deep-seated patterns of thought and behavior.
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek this work simply because they want to understand themselves better and live more fully and intentionally.
